Maryanna Nassar

Maryanna Nassar, 93, of Allentown passed away peacefully on the morning of February 25, 2016. She was born in Mishtay, Syria on February 23, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Ayoub Moussa and Naifeh Hanoush. She was predeceased by her husband Nasri Nassar. Maryanna was a highly respected member of Allentown's Syrian community and she could often be seen at St. George Orthodox Church. She played an influential role in the lives of many of her grandchildren. Her door was always open for laughs, advice and love. Her storytelling was second to none and she always had a great joke or two. Maryanna enjoyed knitting, gardening, playing cards, and most of all spending time with her loved ones. She will be greatly missed by all.

 

Survivors: Maryanna is survived by her 9 children: Georgette, Nawal, George, Nabil, Nageh, Issa, Aida, Tony, and Samea. She is also survived by her 32 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

 

Services: viewing Monday evening from 6-9 p.m. at St. George Orthodox Church, 1011 Catasauqua Ave., Allentown, and also Tuesday starting at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral service at 11. Interment at Cedar Hill Memorial Park. Contributions can be made to the church building fund. Arrangements by Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown.
