Youssef Atiyeh

Youssef Atiyeh, 94, was born in 1922 to an Eastern Orthodox family from Amar, Syria.  He emigrated to the United States in 1971. He enjoyed family gatherings, and the outdoors.  His main purpose in life was dedication to his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. At the age of 66, he returned to Syria to build his family home and re-create roots for his family in their village, Amar.  He lived his life to the highest standards with a big heart and an open mind.

Survivors:  He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Nour Atiyeh;  eight children Naife Khalouf, Ibrahim Atiyeh, Maani Butros, Selma Atiyeh, Anis Atiyeh, Anisseh Ohanian, Elias Atiyeh, and Nawal Hadeed; 18 grandchildren, and 14  great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by two grandchildren.  

Services:  Viewing 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, 1227 W. Hamilton St., Allentown.  Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, St. George Orthodox Church, 1011 Catasauqua Ave., Allentown.  Interment at Laurel Cemetery.
