Beverly Jane Hardinger, 89, a resident of Allentown, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 3, from complications after a fall at home.
Born January 23, 1929 in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Robert Eugene Smith and Georgia French Hardy Smith. Beverly graduated from Alleghany High School in 1947. She modeled for Rosenbaum’s Department Store and worked at WCUM and as an assistant to the late Dr. Emmett Jones. She left Cumberland to begin her married life in Baltimore and was a long time resident of Bel Air, MD.
Beverly loved to cook and entertain and dance with her husband. She enjoyed playing board games, especially when she was winning. Intellectually curious, she sought knowledge throughout her life, and was a supporter of the Parkland Community Library.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Murray Theodore Hardinger of Allentown; three daughters: Jennifer Marck, of Phoenix, Arizona; Dana Ward and husband John of Abington, Maryland; Sharon Philippart and husband, Leonard, of Fredericksburg, VA; and two grandchildren: Dylan and Hayley. She is also survived by her sisters Gwen Harden and her husband Tom, of Lewes, DE; Carolyn Mele and her husband Jim of Sarasota, FL; brother Ronald Smith and preceded in death by his late wife, Nancy of Ocean View, DE and many wonderful extended family members.
The immediate family is holding a private celebration of Beverly’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkland Library, at www.parklandlibrary.org. Please put Beverly Hardinger’s name in the company line on the donation form. Arrangements are by Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown.
